New Dimension PhotoCraft has added laser-engraved timber photo etching to it's range. These products can be produced at any size up to 500mm wide by 250mm high. As with the range of glass products, the pricing will be the same for the following sizes: 5" x 7" ($35), and 9" x 13" ($65), however the size can be negotiated. All buildings and vehicles are available to buy as timber etchings. Similar pricing is also applied to have your own suitable photograph etched in timber (see services). The timber used is 3mm thick Kauri Pine. A light coloured timber suits the engraving process better than darker shades. The laser process engraves the photograph details into the surface of the timber, while the outside is cut right through. There is only a small amount of blackening on the reverse side of the cut image, which is also used in this case to print the caption fr the image. A front caption however can be included in a square below the photograph if required. After the timber is cut, it can be coated in various materials for preservation.
