Have your own car created in stunning 3D!

Due to popular demand, a service is now available to have your own cherished vehicle created as a high quality 3D photograph. Important to note is that the fine detail in these products is artifically cut, which combined with digital photo editing (especially concerning the image background) results in lengthy computer design time. This work only needs to be done once, after which any number of copies can be made.

The time for this work is not charged as part of the normal product price, but will have to be accounted for when creating a personal product. For a standard vehicle photograph with no major background editing required, a custom framed item can be created for $220 including GST. However this framed item may can outlive your car (or your owndership of it) and become a treasured reminder for any vehicle enthusiast. If the image is clear, older film photos of vehicles no longer in your possession can be used if the negative is available. Also, any further copies of a finished item can be produced for a regular price of only $130. Individuals, private collectors and organisations may find use for additional copies.

For the simpler, cheaper Silhouette versions (click here for details), customised products can be created for $170, and additional copies for only $80.

Due to a planned upgrade of photographic equipment, for the moment I would prefer that a high quality digital image or rescanned negative be supplied, and the best photo suitable is a front end 45-degree angle (see the product range for examples).

Due to the time-consuming nature, relatively low sales and higher price in comparison with 2D photographs, I am unable to afford to purchase photographs at the standard commercial rate. This is compounded by the uncertainties of how well a product will sell. Larger image libraries connected with major organisations are not browsable; the images have to be "looked up" by staff, sometimes at a fee.

Even when browsable archives are located, only a very small percentage is suitable for development into a three-dimensional artwork. The photo needs to have a number of individual objects or parts of a whole, some closer to the camera than others. There cannot be excessive flatness or ground plane stretching from near to far, as the layering will break this up. Foreground objects cannot obscure detailed objects in the background, as this is difficult to edit (sky is easy). Further issues then arise with cost, image size, getting in contact with the copyright owner and explaining my business. All of the Canberra region photographs are my own, and the finished product more than overcomes any inadequacies in the original photograph.

The difficulty in acquiring high-quality, suitable, lower cost photographs for such small-scale use is by far the largest factor regarding delays in expanding my product range. For this reason I believe most of my photographs will be supplied by private arrangement.

Should you be a professional with photography you believe to be suitable, please do not hesitate to contact me. Compensation for use of your photograph could involved royalties, a single flat fee, a cheap or gratis copy of the finished work, or any negotiated arrangement. I am looking for general Australiana (including animals), vehicles (with express consent from the owner), aircraft (military or historic), or other suggestions you feel may interest me. Note that people (from enquiries about sporting merchandise) do not come out well in 3D.
